Round Midnight Live met Sly & The Family Stone - 13 juni
En vanavond staan we stil bij het recente overlijden van funkpionier Sly Stone. Een eigenaardige maar legendarische opname hebben we van zijn optreden op North Sea Jazz 2007. Een optreden wat de geschiedenis in is gegaan als een soort klucht. Aan zijn Family lag het niet, die speelden prima. Maar de meester zelf liet maarliefst drie kwartier op zich wachten en kwam na veel ‘Sly is in the building’ aankondigingen maar voor drie nummers het podium op. Een moeilijke situatie voor iedereen inclusief Sly Stone zelf, maar wel memorabel voor het festival en de mensen die erbij waren.
